Dear Farmers Market Colleagues,


The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) makes a concentrated effort each year, to solicit new and updated market information from farmers market stakeholders in order to keep the listings as accurate and comprehensive as possible.  We need your assistance in passing along this message to the farmers market community and market managers in your state. 

 

Time is running out!!!  If you provide or update information on your farmers market by June 28, this information will appear in the USDA’s National Farmers Market Directory by July 16, 2013, just in time for National Farmers Market Week.  Marketing listings submitted after June 28 will be published in the Directory by August 13, 2013, so don’t delay.

 

Please note, during the week of June 10, markets that currently listed an email address in the Directory were emailed a link to directly access and update their market information.  Make sure you check your spam filter too!

 

It’s easier than ever to register!  If you did not receive an email or this is your first time listing your market in the Directory,  you can now do so at www.usdadirectoryupdate.com and in less than 10 minutes you’re done.  That’s all it takes.  Even if you listed your market last year, you still need to go back to the directory again to make sure all your information is correct. 

 

The USDA National Farmers Market Directory is used by mobile app developers like Real Time Farms and Avaya to help consumers find farmers markets across the nation.   

 

The Directory attracted over two million page views from users last year alone.  It’s the “go-to” resource for consumers, researchers, community planners and more to better understand the size of the farmers market sector! 

 

How Can the Directory help you?

The USDA National Farmers Market Directory gets the word out about your market:

  • Where and when your market opens
  • Second and third market locations that you operate
  • What products your market sells
  • If your market  accepts:
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Women, Infants and Children Farmers Market Nutrition Program (WIC-FMNP)
    • Women, Infant and Children, Cash Value Vouchers (WIC-CVV)
    • Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)
  • Whether or not the market acceptances debit/credit cards
  • Consumers can even get:
    • Driving directions to the market they choose to visit
    • Map markets within a radius of their current location
    • Get a state or national map of farmers markets

  

If your market was in the Directory last year remember to check your e-mail for your link to update your market listing that was sent the week of June 10th.  If your market is new to the Directory or you didn’t receive your direct market link or you can’t find the link, you can still register your market just go to:  www.usdadirectoryupdate.com

    Beverly, I have tried to update our Farmers Market information and it has not been updated.  I tried last week and the new information is not there. 

    I am going to try again today and see what happens.
