Free Grass-Finished Beef and Lamb Workshop

Join NCAT and the farmers of Ozark Pasture Beef for a one-day workshop focused on producing and marketing grass-finished beef and lamb.

Business partners Ron Morrow and Ann Wells of Ozark Pasture Beef are highly experienced farmers, grazing managers, animal handlers, marketers, and educators, and will share a wealth of information with participants.

Activities will include a farm tour and hands-on training on the following topics:

·         Keeping soils healthy

·         Managing pasture

·         Managing animals: cows/calves, yearlings, sheep, goats

·         Marketing meat

·         Designing a water system and installing a tire tank

·         Using NRCS planning

The workshop will take place Thursday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants will start the day with classroom time at the Weddington Community Building, 15503 N. Jackson Hwy., Fayetteville, AR. The group will then travel just down the road to the presenters’ farms for hands-on activities. Transportation from the community building to the farms will be provided.

The workshop is free and NCAT will provide lunch. Space is limited, however. To register, visit www.ncat.org/events.

For more information about the workshop, contact NCAT at 479-442-9824 or email margoh@ncat.org.

This project is supported by the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA, Grant # 2014-07424.
