The FO staff in Poinsett and Crittenden County are putting together theMid-South Organic Conference. If you have any producers who are transitioning or thinking about transitioning to organic this might be beneficial to them.
The Mid-South Organic Conference will be held at Arkansas State University Mid-South in West Memphis, AR September 18th, 2018. The event will be a mutual opportunity for farmers, landowners and agents from around the Mid-South to learn and share from their experiences and knowledge of organic farming.
We’re thrilled to host Ramkrishnan (Ram) Balasubramanian and Brie Medina from Quality Certification Services (QCS) out ofGainesville, FL. Ram will be presenting their“Organic 101” course, explaining the certification process, what needs to be certified, NOP labeling requirements, etc. QCS is an accredited certifying agency, that has been meeting the demands of a growing food industry for more than 25 years. QCS is the certification body of Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers Inc., a nonprofit organization that began certifying organic growers in 1987 and received its USDA accreditation in 2001. QCS is the largest certification agency on the eastern seaboard.
After lunch we have put together a panel of multiple organic producers who will give personal advice and answer questions from their experience transitioning and maintaining their organic certification.
I’ve attached the link to register for the event:
